A Detailed Parametric Analysis of a Solar-Powered Cogeneration System for Electricity and Hydrogen Production

Hydrogen has received increased attention in the last decades as a green energy carrier and promising future fuel. The integration of hydrogen, well development cogeneration plants, makes sector more eco-friendly, sustainable. aim this paper is investigation solar-fed system that can produce power compressed hydrogen. examined unit contains parabolic trough collector solar field, thermal storage tank, an organic Rankine cycle, proton exchange membrane water electrolyzer. installation also includes hydrogen tank compressor. analyzed parametrically terms thermodynamic performance economic viability steady-state conditions with developed accurate model. Taking into account final results, overall efficiency calculated at 14.03%, exergy 14.94%, production rate 0.205 kg/h. Finally, payback period net present value are determined 9 years 122 k€, respectively.
